Car Insurance Ram (Car Insurance). Have a crack between the intake and exhaust valve. Can that cause a piston rod to break?

Have a crack between the intake and exhaust valve. Can that cause a piston rod to break? The #1 piston rod broke in my engine. I notice a crack between the two valves. Can that be a cause for the rod to break? I dont want to spend a lot of money on the car , Should I take a chance and with this head as is or will the new piston and rod break again. The valves look good and dont seem bent but dont know what cause the rod to breakl

A broken rod will score the cylinder and damage the piston, maybe the crankshaft too..You would be money ahead to buy a replacement car and not try fixing that one..Your's will need a new or used engine.. You have a cracked head and a broken rod ?? Doubtful the cracked head caused the rod to break. More likely is something broke both of them. No, I would not reuse the head again if you rebuild the engine.

On a 1988 mustang gt do you have to drop the transmission to change speedometer gears? I recently bought a 1988 mustang gt and the speedometer was not working. I inspected the cable and it was melted by the headers. Probably been that way awhile. I installed the new cable with no problems but speedometer still does not work. I had the speedometer itself checked out and it works. I am assuming that when the cable melted the sudden stop maybe ruined the gears in the transmission. How hard is it to fix this problem and do i need to drop the transmission? car insurance.

Ram . How to Eliminate Smoke Odor in a Car

The pungent, acrid smell of cigarette smoke lingers in enclosed places such as the inside of your car. Nicotine from cigarette smoke creates a yellowish-brown stain with a greasy residue. This stain contains the smoke odor that adheres to every surface in your car. Even though smoke odors cling to surfaces, you can remove the odors and stains, and return your car's interior to its fresh, odor-free state.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need
White vinegar
Spray bottle
Cleaning cloths
Stain removing carpet shampoo
Carpet shampooer
Baking soda
Soft-bristled brush
VacuumSuggest EditsItem AddWhy is it necessary?Done

Step by Step :
1
Fill a spray bottle with undiluted white vinegar. Spray all plastic, vinyl and glass surfaces inside your car to clean off smoke stains and remove smoke odors. Wipe the vinegar spray with a clean cloth, applying more spray as needed and changing to a clean cloth as each cloth becomes soiled.
2
Shampoo all carpeted or upholstered surfaces in your car using a carpet shampooer and shampoo that has stain remover in it. Leave the windows open, if possible, to allow the air to help dry the carpet and upholstery.
3
Deodorize your car interior further by sprinkling baking soda on all soft surfaces. Work the baking soda into carpet, upholstery and other soft surfaces by gently scrubbing it in with a bristle brush. Leave the baking soda to sit on the surfaces overnight.
4Use a vacuum to help remove smoke odor from your car.vacuum cleaner image by vb_photo from Fotolia.com
Vacuum the baking soda the next day, after it has the chance to absorb any remaining smoke odor from your car.
Tips & Warnings
Dampen a cloth strip with undiluted vinegar and hang it over your rear-view mirror overnight to deodorize your car.

Place two drops of your favorite essential oil on a cotton ball and set in the clean ashtray in your car to add fragrance and freshen your car.

If you or others must smoke in your car, open windows and properly discard cigarette butts when you arrive at your destination.

Ram . How to Remove Dog Odor From a Car

If your dog is often in the car with you, you may notice that your best friend starts to leave behind unwanted odors. These doggy odors can become unpleasant and difficult to bear if left untreated for too long. Cleaning your car and removing dog odors does not have to be done professionally. You can do this at home using few cleaning products.
Difficulty:Moderately Easy
Instructions Things You'll Need
Enzyme-based cleaner
Baking soda
Upholstery foam
Lint or pet hair roller
Portable vacuum
Paper towels or ragsSuggest EditsItem AddWhy is it necessary?Done

Step by Step :
1
Apply an enzyme-based cleaner to remove any urine odors from your car's carpet and upholstery. If the stain is still wet, blot up as much moisture as you can using a paper towel or rag before applying the enzyme-based cleaner. An enzyme-based cleaner will help get rid of the smell instead of masking it.
2
Run a lint brush or pet hair roller across the car's upholstery to remove pet hair. Repeat until as much of the hair as possible is gone.
3
Vacuum up any loose dirt and debris with a hand-held vacuum or shop vacuum.
4
Sprinkle baking soda onto the upholstery and carpets. Allow baking soda to sit overnight and absorb odor before vacuuming again.
5
Shampoo the interior of your car using upholstery foam if the baking soda did not sufficiently remove odor. Spray foam onto carpet and upholstery. Scrub foam into carpet and upholstery. Allow foam to dry before vacuuming completely.

plug at the proper time. If the spark is insufficient, or if it arrives before or after the fuel/air mixture is at full compression by the piston, the result is less power and poorly burned fuel. Increased air pollution and fuel consumption is a high price to pay for stretching the intervals between tune-ups! Chapters 12 and 13 show you how to keep your electrical system and fuel system in tune. In a stratified charge engine In their efforts to design and build cars with a greater degree of fuel effi ciency, automakers have had to deal with a frustrating paradox. It takes a lean fuel/air mixture (one that has relatively little fuel in proportion to air) to provide maximum fuel economy and cut down on the hydrocarbons and 328 Car Insurance 1998 oldsmobile lss 309541

carbon monoxide that pollute the air, but it takes a rich mixture to attain greater power and cut down on nitrogen oxides, which also pollute the air. How could a vehicle enjoy the benefits of both mixtures while avoiding the pitfalls? One answer came in the form of the stratified charge engine: Stratified charge engines are basically the same as conventional internal combustion engines, with one major difference: Stratified charge engines provide both a lean mixture and a rich mixture of fuel and air to the cylinders, and they keep the two mixtures separated until the vital moment when combustion takes place. Then the spark plug fires the rich mixture, which in turn ignites the leaner mixture. Because the fuel/air ratio for a conventional engine is around 15:1, and a stratified charge engine can use a mixture as lean as 30:1 (some have even worked successfully with mixtures of 200:1!), you can see why these new engines have stacked up such sensational ratings for fuel efficiency and clean emissions. .Chapter 6: The Fuel System: The Heart and Lungs of Your Car The basic design of a stratified charge engine varies with the manufacturer. One of the most outstanding was pioneered by Honda in its CVCC. It used a pre-chamber (short for precombustion chamber) to keep the rich mixture from mixing with the lean one. The following steps explain how the four-

stroke power cycle works in a stratified charge engine: 1. Intake stroke: The cylinder head has a little chamber, called & pre-chamber, which has its own little intake valve. The spark plug is also located in this chamber. On the intake stroke, the little auxiliary intake valve opens and allows a very rich mixture of fuel and air to enter the pre-chamber. On the same stroke, the main intake valve opens up and brings a very lean mixture of fuel and air into the cylinder itself. Figure 6-18 shows a cylinder in a stratified charge engine during the intake stroke. Compare it to the conventional cylinder in Figure 6-14. 2. Compression stroke: The lean mixture is compressed at the top of the cylinder in the combustion chamber, and the two mixtures are brought into contact with one another. 3. Ignition stroke: The spark plug fires the rich mixture in the pre-chamber, where it burns fiercely and ignites the leaner mixture in the combustion chamber. This action forces the piston down and provides the power that moves the car. Because the lean mixture burns more slowly, the fuel is burned more thoroughly, which is why stratified charge engines get better mileage and put out cleaner exhaust fumes.

Ram . How can you connect a car to the software?

*
4. Exhaust stroke: The exhaust valve opens and sends the burned gases out of the car, via the exhaust system. Other stratified engines use a depression in the piston's surface to provide space for the rich mixture to be ignited, instead of a pre-chamber. This open chamber design has performed efficiently in a variety of vehicles. Iwbochmqinq Turbocharging means to use a blower or a turbine to force greater amounts of air into an engine's cylinders. diesel and conventional vehicles because cars run on air more than they run on fuel. The more air the engine can take in, the bigger the bang is during the power stroke. At first, cars were turbocharged to perform better on race tracks, but when car manufacturers began to use smaller engines on larger cars to lighten their weight and conserve fuel, turbocharging provided a way to increase the engine's power so that these big cars wouldn't be sluggish on the road. 128 Part II: What Makes It Go?
